The History of Land O' Lakes Christian School
First Baptist Church of Land O’ Lakes opened a day school on September 5, 1978 using A.C.E. curriculum specifically to serve the needs of FBCLOL families. The facilities included a sanctuary, small fellowship hall/multi-purpose room, and multi-room educational/nursery building. LOLCS began with an enrollment of 23 students in K – 7th grade, all being children of First Baptist Church of Land O’ Lakes members.
In 1990, the school structure changed to the mainstream, traditional classroom school it is today. The program and facilities expanded in 1992 with a classroom/restroom addition and the addition of a K4 program.
In 2000, the school population continued to grow and the facility expanded to include a Fellowship Hall, 2 additional classroom spaces, an addition to our sanctuary, and a remodeled educational classroom building (Education Building). In 2001, the school completed a large 8-room educational facility (Faithful Servant’s Building), an updated primary-aged playground area, and added our high school grades.
From our humble beginning to our current growth, two things have remained constant: our unwavering commitment to academic excellence grounded in the Word of God and the longevity of our faculty and staff. In fact, our current Administrator, Dave Nichols, has been with the school since 2005, most of our teachers have been with the school between 10 and 20 years, and our Senior Pastor, Dr. David Peterson, has been our Pastor for over 35 years.
The school is continuing to grow surpassing 400 students. Our new gymnasium expansion project will give us 5 more classrooms and a nice sized multipurpose room. It also includes adding a chair lift (mini elevator) for handicapped access to the 6 classrooms that will be located on the 2nd floor of the gym and gym addition.
